The Tennessee Titans have waived safety Robert Johnson after he failed a physical.
Johnson joined the Titans in 2010 as a fifth-round draft pick but never managed to hold down a regular starting place in the side due to a number of injuries.
The 26-year-old made a career-high 12 appearances for the franchise last season until injury ended his campaign again, eventually forcing coach Mike Munchak to reluctantly let him go.
"I think it's just been frustrating for him too, and us, that injuries have been unfortunately for him since he's been here," Munchak said.
"He hasn't been able to stay healthy. Great kid loved having him here I know he loved it here too. He had a great opportunity last year, worked hard to get it. Had the injury.
"Tried to come back and still not healthy. We needed to have someone at that position who could help us."
The Titans also waived defensive end Thaddeus Gibson and added Gary Guyton and Corey Lynch to their roster.
