Report: Kirk Cousins open to trade

Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins is reportedly open to a trade this off-season in an attempt to find regular first-team action.

Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins has expressed an interest in the possibility of a trade, according to a report.

Cousins is currently the number two quarterback to Robert Griffin III for the Redskins, and new coach Jay Gruden has confirmed that that will continue to be the case next season.

However, Cousins is keen to compete for a regular starting spot in a team and will consider offers from other franchises if they can give him that chance, according to ESPN.

The 25-year-old is not eligible for a trade until March 11, but a number of sides are in need of a quarterback and he is expected to receive offers should he decide to leave the Redskins.

The Cleveland Browns have been touted as a possible destination as the franchise are expected to name Kyle Shanahan as their new offensive coordinator after he was sacked by the Redskins at the end of the 2013 season.

Shanahan has worked with Cousins for the last two years, during which the quarterback has started four games and featured in eight matches overall, passing for 1,320 yards, eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
