Kyle Shanahan remains confident of Washington Redskins offense

Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan states that his side need to "clean up" their game if they are going to have success in the red zone.

Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan has insisted that he still has faith in the team's offensive ability, despite their poor start to the new NFL campaign.

The Redskins have converted just five of 21 third-down attempts in their three matches so far this season, with Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Detroit Lions bringing about more red zone woes.

"I feel confident in our guys that we can get out of this," Shanahan told the Washington Post. "I'm confident in our players, I'm confident in our coaching staff. Every week I want Sunday to come. It couldn't come faster, because I want to get this feeling out of us.

"We haven't been clean. Whether it was a penalty, a drop, a missed throw, bad protection, busted protection,a bad call; it just wasn't clean.

"We had some opportunities and we didn't execute them, and when you don't execute them, you can't stay on the field. We're just trying to clean it up."

Washington travel to the Oakland Raiders next Sunday.
