Laura Samuel picks up triple jump silver behind Kimberley Williams

Jamaica's Kimberley Williams takes gold in the triple jump, with Laura Samuel of England collecting silver.

England's Laura Samuel has claimed the silver medal in the triple jump at the Commonwealth Games behind winner Kimberley Williams.

The 23-year-old produced a jump of 14.09m, a massive 34cm bigger than her previous personal best, to finish second inside a packed Hampden Park.

Jamaica's Williams was too strong for her rivals, adding to her strong first jump with a final effort of 14.21m to clinch gold.

Trinidad and Tobago's Ayanna Alexander picked up the bronze with a jump of 14.01m to beat Shenieka Thomas to the final spot on the podium.
