World indoor triple jump champion Yamile Aldama has been cleared to compete for Britain at this summer's London Olympics.
The Cuban-born athlete applied for British citizenship more than a decade ago after she married a Scottish student in Havana and moving to London.
However, Aldama was forced to compete for Sudan at the 2004 Olympics after finding herself without a country to represent.
The 39-year-old managed to successfully change her nationality two years ago and the International Olympics Committee have now agreed to reduce the customary three-year waiting period.
An International Olympic Committee statement said: "In both cases the Executive Board agreed to the request to reduce the three-year waiting period outlined in the Olympic Charter as the requirements for such reduction or cancellation had been met."
Aldama became the second-oldest world champion in history when she won gold at the World Indoor Athletics Championships.
