Jessica Ennis-Hill has pulled out of the British Championships in Birmingham this weekend with an ankle injury.
The 27-year-old has not competed since winning the heptathlon gold at the Olympics last summer.
The Sheffield-born athlete missed a Women's Athletic League meeting in Edinburgh with an Achilles problem earlier this summer, but UK Athletics says that her recovery is progressing.
Ennis-Hill's coach is optimistic that she will be fit enough to compete in the World Championships in Moscow later this year.
