Richard Kilty has admitted that he needs to improve on his 100m start following his fourth-place finish in the Diamond League heats in Birmingham this afternoon.

Kilty clocked a time of 10.10s to finish fourth in his heat, although his spot as fastest runner-up ensured him a place in the final later today.

However, the 26-year-old was angry with his start and acknowledged that he needs to improve his technique if he is to challenge for honours.

"My start was shit, I need to sort it out. When I sort it out I'll run a lot faster and hopefully I'll do a little bit between the heat and the finals," he told Sports Mole.

"My technique, I'm just popping out of the blocks. I'm World Indoor champion, I shouldn't be starting that slow."

Kilty's compatriots Adam Gemili and Chijindu Ujah also made it through to this afternoon's 100m final.
