Wales 800m runner Joe Thomas has insisted that England's Andrew Osagie did cut across his line during the final stages of their heat yesterday.
Thomas and Osagie were vying for the final automatic qualifying spot in their heat at Hampden Park when they clashed in the last few metres, with Thomas being forced off the track having surged up on the inside of his home nations rival.
Osagie crossed the line ahead of the Welshman but was subsequently disqualified, with his appeal being turned down by the race officials.
After the race, the English athlete told Sports Mole that he had been "tripped" and could not control where he was falling, but Thomas believes that it was more than simply an innocent coming-together.
"As far as I'm concerned, I stand by what the judges said. It was clear - it was a disqualification within a few minutes. I kind of knew as soon as I hit the mixed zone," the 26-year-old told Sports Mole.
"I'm good friends with Andrew, [it was] just one of those days - it's athletics. [The appeal] was made before we went into the media zone so it was an instant DQ.
"I did feel like he did my cross line, I had the inside and I did feel like he came across me and then fell straight in front of me so I had to run off the tracks."
Thomas went on to finish seventh in tonight's semi-final, missing out on a place in the medal race.
