Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell has declared himself out of the 4x100m relay race due to a groin injury.
The relay, which is due to take place on Sunday, will feature the 28-year-old’s countrymen Usain Bolt and world champion Yohan Blake.
"I don't think it's a good idea to risk it with my team and country depending on me,” said Powell. “I'm still a little sore. I'm training well but there is still a slight pain."
The Jamaican is recorded as the third fastest man in history and was ranked number one in the world this year.
