Newly-crowned world champion Dafne Schippers has hit back at doping suggestions following the manner of her 200m victory at the World Athletics Championships.
The Dutch sprinter clinched the gold in a time of 21.63s to become the third fastest woman in history over that distance on Friday afternoon.
The 23-year-old is now behind Florence Griffith-Joyner, whose career was blighted by allegations of doping before she died aged 38 in 1998, and Marion Jones, who was stripped of her Olympic medals following a steroid confession.
Given the company, Schippers's time is bound to arouse suspicion but she is adamant that she is clean.
"I'm a very happy with my time, at my moment," she is quoted as saying by ESPN. "I can't believe it at this moment. I know I am clean and I know I work very hard for it."
GB's Dina Asher-Smith clocked a time of 22.07s to finish fifth and break a British record in the process.
