England's Rajiv Ouseph hopes to climb up on the world stage

England badminton star Rajiv Ouseph is hopeful that he can move up the rankings on the international stage.

England's number one badminton player Rajiv Ouseph is hopeful that he can move up the world rankings following a strong start to the year.

The 28-year-old, who is currently world number 22, has already won the Swedish Open and helped clinch silver with England at the European Mixed Team Championships so far in 2015.

Ouseph is impressed by the country's badminton talent in the doubles, but is hopeful that he can help boost the singles pedigree.

"We had a bit of a drop in the last couple of years but now we are slowly getting a good bunch of top badminton players together," teamgb.com quotes Ouseph as saying. "We are looking a lot stronger.

"We have a strong doubles outfit in Chris and Gabby Adcock but we have not been as strong in the singles. It needs someone to push on and I hope I can be that person."

Ouseph will compete in the All England Open Badminton Championships this week.
