The Cavaliers were awarded the number one overall pick in last week's lottery, with the former Kansas center emerging as an early favourite to join the team.
A source told ESPN that the 20-year-old has agreed to hold off visiting any other NBA side until he has met with Cleveland and undergone a physical with the team.
The seven-foot Cameroonian missed the end of the college season with a stress fracture in his back, but was able to complete a league workout with NBA officials in Los Angeles last week.
