Report: Harrison Barnes, Golden State Warriors to open contract talks

Golden State Warriors small forward Harrison Barnes will reportedly discuss a contract extension at the end of the season.

The Golden State Warriors have reportedly made signing Harrison Barnes to a contract extension one of their priorities for the upcoming offseason.

The small forward has one more season remaining on his rookie contract with the Western Conference champions, so would be able to hit free agency next summer.

However, Bay Area News reports that the 23-year-old wants to extend his stay with the Warriors, while the Pacific Division side are keen to keep him at the Oracle Arena.

The deal has to be agreed by October 31 in order to prevent Barnes becoming a free agent at the end of next season.

Barnes averaged 10.1 points per game in the regular season, and has been scoring 11.3 per game in the playoffs.
