New York Knicks sixth man JR Smith has been suspended by the NBA after violating the league's substance abuse policy.
The 27-year-old tested positive for marijuana and now faces a five-game suspension, sources told Yahoo! Sports.
An official announcement has now appeared on the NBA website, and it will come as a huge blow for coach Mike Woodson as he prepares his team for training camp later this month.
Smith was a revelation in the regular season last year, before falling off the pace in the playoffs where the Knicks were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in the semi-finals in the Eastern Conference.
