Nick Blackwell to wake from coma 'in two to three days'

Nick Blackwell is reportedly expected to wake from his induced coma in the next two to three days following his British middleweight title defeat to Chris Eubank Jr.

Nick Blackwell will be woken from his induced coma in the next two to three days, according to reports.

The 25-year-old was taken to hospital after suffering a small bleed on the brain during Saturday's British middleweight title fight against Chris Eubank Jr.

The fight was eventually stopped by the ringside doctor in the tenth round before Blackwell was taken from the ring on a stretcher while being given oxygen.

Blackwell did not require surgery on the problem, however, and BBC Sport now reports that his family are expecting him to wake in the next 48 to 72 hours.

Many observers have argued that the fight should have been stopped sooner, with Eubank's father, former world champion Chris Eubank Sr, even telling his son to stop hitting Blackwell in the head.
