Ricky Burns could face Raymundo Beltran in February

WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns could make his return from a broken jaw in a rematch with Raymundo Beltran in February.

WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns is likely to face a rematch with Raymundo Beltran if he continues to recover from a broken jaw.

Burns was forced to undergo surgery after fighting with the injury for 10 rounds, but after the bout ended in a controversial draw, trainer Alex Morrison has revealed that the Scot is keen for a second encounter with the Mexican.

Morrison told BBC Scotland: "Ricky feels that it's the moral thing to do in giving Beltran another shot. He wants to put the record straight after fighting for 10 rounds with a broken jaw in that first fight.

"We want it, Beltran wants it and the fans want it. The deal is done. We're 99% there with it and we are just waiting for the final confirmation, which will happen any day now.

"We're looking at early February in Glasgow."

Burns has won 36 of his 39 professional fights, while Beltran has 28 victories from 35 bouts.
