Speaking the morning after his devastating world title win over Lucian Bute, Carl Froch identifies Dane Mikkel Kessler as a next possible opponent.

The new IBF super-middleweight champion Carl Froch has identified Dane Mikkel Kessler as his next possible opponent.

Froch was crown world champion with a blistering performance agains the previously unbeaten Lucian Bute in Nottingham last night.

Speaking to Sky Sports News this morning, the 34-year-old said: "I've not been to bed, I'm still on a natural adrenaline rush. I don't often sleep after a fight. I feel elated, I feel fantastic."

Froch said that if he had lost last night he would have seriously considered his future in the sport but feels now that he has plenty left in the tank.

"I think this was probably my career-recognising fight, everyone can recognise what I've done now because they can look back," he added.

He also felt that home advantage in Nottingham was a big help and thanked the thousands who turned out at the Capital FM Arena.

"I think it's a massive advantage having a home crowd. I've not boxed at home for three years, I've been to the lions' den, the cauldron, the bear pit, whatever you want to call it, it's not very nice.

"The fans did me very proud and they filled me with more energy."

When asked who he would fight next, the three-time world champion named Kessler, who defeated him narrowly on points two years ago.

"I like to be involved in big fights, proper fights," Froch added. "I think Michael Kessler could be the fight because he's got a win against me, albeit a close decision against me.

"I'd happily give him the chance to challenge for my IBF title. It's the fight people want to see and I want to give the people top, top fights.

"Although, there is a guy called Andre Ward who has a win over me and I'd love to avenge that defeat as well because that's the kind of guy I am."

Before that, the defeated Bute has a contractual option of a rematch against Froch but it is not yet known if the Canadian will take up this option.
