George Groves: "Toughest decision I have ever had to make"

George Groves describes his decision to withdraw from the world super-middleweight title fight with Robert Stieglitz as the 'toughest decision of his life' and apologises to "everyone involved".

George Groves has described his decision to withdraw from the world super-middleweight title fight with Robert Stieglitz as the 'toughest decision of his life'.

The 24-year-old called the Germany fight off because of injury, pulling out of an arranged contest for the second time this year.

Despite his latest set back, Groves is determined to come back better than ever.

He said: "After coming back to London immediately and seeking medical advice I hope that this problem will be sorted soon and will only be a short delay.

"I am truly sorry to everyone involved who will be affected by this. This is without doubt the toughest decision I have ever had to make, I am gutted but nothing worth having is given away.

"It has only made me more determined to achieve my goal of becoming world champion. Thanks to everyone again for their continued support in my journey."

Groves received a death threat last month after he withdrew from a fight with Kenny Anderson.
