Amir Khan's representatives have denied rumours that he is pulling out of the potential bout with Devon Alexander on December 7 to face Floyd Mayweather Jnr instead.
It was recently reported that the Bolton scrapper is clearing his schedule to pave the way for a big-money clash with Mayweather on May 3, 2014, but Team Khan have now dismissed such speculation.
"Team Khan would like to dispel recent reports that Amir Khan has pulled out of a potential match-up against Devon Alexander on December 7, taking up a fight against Floyd Mayweather in May of next year instead," reads an official statement.
"Contrary to this story, Amir Khan is currently in training camp in San Francisco with the aim of fighting again in December against Alexander once an agreement can be reached."
Khan, a former WBA and IBF light welterweight champion, last fought in April, overcoming Julio Diaz in 12 rounds at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.
