Andy Lee eyes fast start against Peter Quillin

WBO middleweight champion Andy Lee believes that he must make a fast start against Peter Quillin when they clash in New York on Saturday night.

Andy Lee has admitted that he will need to adopt a different gameplan against Peter Quillin to the strategy that saw him win the WBO middleweight title in December.

The Irishman fought cautiously before stopping Matt Korobov in Las Vegas, but ahead of his title defence against Quillin, Lee has acknowledged that he requires a fast start to give himself a better chance of retaining his belt.

The 30-year-old told the Irish Independent: "Quillin's a guy who fights on confidence and, if I let him go in the fight, he might run away with it.

"I have to let him know early on that he's in a fight. It's not like my last fight where I was comfortable boxing within myself for the first few rounds.

"This time, I have to come our firing from the start and impose myself. If I do that, I'll be on my way to winning the fight."

Unbeaten Quillin previously vacated the WBO title before Lee granted him an opportunity to win back the belt.
