Floyd Mayweather Sr: Critics "don't know boxing"

The father of Floyd Mayweather Jr feels that his son's critics "don't know boxing" after watching him beat Manny Pacquiao on a unanimous decision victory.

The father of Floyd Mayweather Jr has claimed that his son's critics "don't know boxing" after his unanimous points victory over Manny Pacquiao.

Mayweather eased past the Filipino at a sold-out MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday evening to stretch his unbeaten professional record to 48-0, but the Grand Rapids scrapper has come under fire throughout his career for his lack of knockout victories.

However, Floyd Mayweather Sr has dismissed the criticism, and feels that his son is "paying the price for being too good" in the boxing ring.

He told BBC Sport: "My son should be treated better. I'm not saying it bothers him but if I was in his shoes, it would bother me.

"He's paying the price for being honest and for being too good. When these guys are throwing punches and he's making them miss, people call that boring. They don't know boxing, that's the problem."

Meanwhile, Mayweather Jr has claimed that he was a deserving winner against Pacquiao.
