Shawn Porter criticial of Adrien Broner attitude

Shawn Porter criticises Adrien Broner's refusal to speak about their catch-weight agreement ahead of their showdown in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

American welterweight Shawn Porter has criticised the attitude of opponent Adrien Broner ahead of their bout in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Despite both men being former world champions at 147lbs, Broner pushed for the encounter to be fought at 144lbs, and Porter has hit out at the multi-weight title holder for refusing to explain his reasoning.

The 27-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "Here we are doing everything we need to do as professionals to be on weight, be on point, be 100% and the 'kid' who chose to make the contracted weight 144lbs wishes not to talk about the contracted weight, wishes not to talk about any rehydration clause, wants to avoid any conversation involving weight limits or anything like that.

"The more and more we talk about it, the more and more the animosity sets in because I'm a professional doing what I do at this high level for so long and my weight class is 147 for so long.

"If you want to move up into my weight, then move up. Don't be scared. Don't be worried. Don't be afraid. Put your skill on the line along with your record. Put it all on the line at 147. Don't put it at 144, then not want to talk about it."

Porter has won 26 of his 27 outings, with his sole defeat coming against Kell Brook, while Broner's only loss in 31 fights came against Marcos Maidana in 2013.
