British super-middleweight Paul Smith has revealed that the choice of venue is the reason why his WBO title clash with Arthur Abraham is yet to be officially confirmed.
It has been publicly known since the end of May that the two camps have been in talks regarding a potential clash, but despite Abraham's promoter Kalle Sauerland yet to announce the bout, Smith has insisted that he is hopeful that a deal can be concluded in the near future.
The 31-year-old told Ringside: "I'm just waiting for the Sauerlands to give me that call and invite me over for a press conference to announce it.
"It's their show, it's their promotion but it is that close. I think all we need is a venue; the O2 Arena in Berlin is booked at the moment, so they are looking for another venue in Berlin."
Smith has won 35 of his 38 professional encounters, while Abraham has 40 victories from 44 contests in the paid ranks.
