Northern Ireland's Steven Donnelly gunning for gold

Northern Ireland boxer Steven Donnelly has his eyes set firmly on gold after advancing into the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games.

Northern Ireland boxer Steven Donnelly has said that "bronze is not enough" for him at this summer's Commonwealth Games.

The welterweight secured at least a bronze medal after overcoming Custio Clayton in the quarter-finals of the competition on Wednesday evening. However, Donnelly insists that he "came here for gold".

"I came here for gold. Bronze is not enough for me, no-one remembers bronze. It is gold that people remember you for so I don't want to settle for bronze," he told Sports Mole.

"I settled for bronze before in the Chemistry Cup in Germany and I don't want to do that again. This is the one I want."

Donnelly will face India's Mandeep Jangra in the semi-finals on Friday.
