Australia spinner Ashton Agar will make his Ashes debut in the first Test at Trent Bridge.

Australia have awarded spinner Ashton Agar a place in the side for the opening Ashes Test at Trent Bridge.

The 19-year-old will represent his country for the first time in an Ashes series following stints with the Australian Under-19s.

The left-arm bowler, who was handed a baggy green cap from Glenn McGrath this morning, was congratulated by his teammates, who are heading into the series as underdogs to England.

Agar has only featured in 10 first-class games, the first match coming in January of this year.
