Australia to retire Phil Hughes's one-day squad number

Australia captain Michael Clarke confirms that Phil Hughes's one-day international squad number will be retired following his death on Thursday.

Australia captain Michael Clarke has revealed that Cricket Australia will retire Phil Hughes's one-day international squad number following his death earlier this week.

The 25-year-old died on Thursday two days after being struck in the head by a cricket ball while playing for the West End Redbacks in their Sheffield Shield match against the New South Wales Blues.

Clarke told reporters: "I asked Cricket Australia if Hughesy's one-day international number 64 could be retired, to which they agreed. That means so much."

The world of cricket has paid tribute to Hughes with a mass campaign on Twitter.
