Good morning, hello and welcome to the day that England regain the Ashes...probably. The hosts are just three wickets away from winning the series and you can follow every ball live with us here today!

Who would have thought that England would be in this position after the Lord's Test three weeks ago? Australia dismantled the hosts in that match, but just four-and-a-half days of action later England are on the verge of completing a remarkable turnaround.

So, what is the state of the game I hear you ask...Well, Australia are 241-7 overnight. They trail England by 90 runs, so need a productive morning to make Alastair Cook and co bat again, and an unbelievable day if they want to set them a tough target...But, in truth, that's highly unlikely. England need just three wickets.

At the crease for the Aussies is Adam Voges and Mitchell Starc. Voges has had a dismal series as part of that woeful Australian middle-order, but is just two runs short of a half-century. He has yet to show his best this summer, but could easily make life hard for England this morning. Up the other end, Starc is a decent batsman and can score quick runs. But England will be confident of removing him fairly early.

As soon as England make a breakthrough, then you would expect them to wrap up the innings fairly quickly. Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon can play their shots, but neither pose too much of a threat to the scoreboard.

On the bowling front, if it was all about Stuart Broad on day one then day two belonged to Ben Stokes. The Durham all-rounder has not contributed as much to the seam attack as his colleagues in this series but he took five crucial wickets yesterday. Chris Rogers and David Warner were batting well at the beginning of Australia's innings, but Stokes removed both of them on his way to figures of 5-35.

For those of you worried about any unwanted weather around, then fear not. Forecasts suggest that we're in for a dry day in Nottingham, and, if things don't go to plan, day's four and five look good too.

As if England needed any aid this morning, Trent Bridge is covered by cloud. This will surely make the ball swing big, and make life far harder for the Aussie batsman.

So, we're just five minutes away now! There is movement in the two dressing rooms and the players will be on the pitch imminently.

The players have walked out to rapturous applause at Trent Bridge. Voges and Starc creep out behind, and we are ready to go!

Mark Wood will bowl the first over of the day...He charges in to Mitchell Starc, who deflects it away with his pad.

Wood completes the half-over he started yesterday, and concedes just the leg bye to Starc. He keeps a tight line to Voges, but the batsman watches them sail by.

Ben Stokes is handed the ball, and he immediately beats the edge of Starc from around the wicket. There is swing there for the Durham man, and he's moving it away from the left-hander. The line is a little too wide from Stokes though, and Starc sensibly leaves the ball alone.

Wood is bowling with some good pace early on, but, like Stokes, his line is a little too wide so far. Voges watches the first two balls go by, before he tries to nip one down the fine leg. Instead it deflects off his body and Butler does well to save the runs with a full-length dive. Wood follows that up with a beauty, as Voges flaps at it outside the stumps and almost nicks it.

WICKET! STARC (0) c BELL b STOKES

Stokes bowls a stunner first up, with one that swings in and straightens up to miss Starc's bat by inches. He beats the bat for a second time with his next delivery, before the Aussie number nine finally blocks a couple. However, he nicks the final ball of the over to Bell, who catches it cleanly. England are just two wickets away now!

Josh Hazlewood is the new man at the crease, but he'll have to wait his turn as Voges faces Wood. The Durham fast bowler steams in and bowls a ripper which marginally misses the outside edge. There is plenty of bounce, pace and swing in this wicket and Australia look like sitting ducks. Voges survives, for now.

Hazlewood is now on strike, and almost gets out third ball to a wicked in-swinger which narrowly misses the top of leg stump from Stokes. And again!! Hazlewood is showing all his stumps to Stokes, and you can see them being splattered at any moment. He survives the end of the over, somehow.

WICKET! HAZLEWOOD (0) b WOOD

England are on the verge of winning the Ashes back now! Wood bowls a perfect yorker to remove Hazlewood after setting him up with a couple of shorter balls. Fast, straight and swinging in from Wood, and Hazlewood has no answer. The end is nigh.

50 FOR VOGES! Voges is still there on 49, and Stokes sizes him up as the crowd cheer him on his way to the wicket. The first ball is too wide, and the second is to short to worry the right-hander. Voges brings up his 50 with a dab into the off-side, but that brings Nathan Lyon on strike. The first ball is too wide to worry the number 11, and he keeps his inside the line on the second. A vicious in-swinger is inches away from off-stump and the crowd get more excited.

Wood sends down another excellent yorker to Voges, but the batsman blocks it to mid-on. The second swings way too much, and disappears down to the boundary for four leg-byes. Voges remains solid for the rest of the over, leaving Lyon to face Stokes once more.

ALMOST! Lyon chases a full, swinging delivery but misses it by inches as Stokes searches for his seventh wicket of the innings. The tail-ender remains firm though, and England's wait goes on a little longer.

WICKET! LYON (4) b WOOD

ENGLAND REGAIN THE ASHES

Brilliant from Wood, who splatters Lyon's stumps with a yorker. England win by an innings and 78 runs, and it couldn't have been more emphatic!

England have been outstanding for most of this series (let's forget about Lord's shall we?) and have blown Australia away. The tourists didn't look like a side who were up for a fight this morning, and they lasted just 40 minutes of play.

That's it from me this morning and what a start to the weekend we've had! England have destroyed Australia and regain the Ashes. They lead the series 3-1, and there is still another Test to come! That will take place at The Oval in two weeks' time, and you can follow the action live with us! Have a nice weekend.
