England's Simon Kerrigan, Chris Woakes to make Test debuts in Ashes finale

Simon Kerrigan and Chris Woakes will make their Test debuts for England at The Oval for the final Ashes Test against Australia.

England have handed Test debuts to Simon Kerrigan and Chris Woakes for the final Ashes Test at The Oval.

The pair were handed their caps this morning by Sir Ian Botham ahead of the fifth Test against Australia, who relinquished the Ashes and the series following the hosts' victory in the fourth Test in Durham.

England captain Alastair Cook hinted yesterday that the team would be relatively unchanged as they attempt to claim a first-ever 4-0 win in an Ashes series.

There were suggestions that Chris Tremlett would come into the team, but the bowler has been left out, despite the absence of Tim Bresnan. Jonny Bairstow has also been dropped from the lineup.

For Australia, James Faulkner will make his debut, while Mitchell Starc has returned to the fold following Jackson Bird and Usman Khawaja's removal from the team.

England team: Cook, Root, Trott, Pietersen, Bell, Woakes, Prior, Broad, Swann, Kerrigan, Anderson

Australia team: Warner, Rogers, Watson, Clarke, Smith, Faulkner, Haddin, Siddle, Starc, Lyon, Harris
