Ashley Giles backs England captain Eoin Morgan to rediscover form

Former England limited-overs head coach Ashley Giles is "pretty confident" that under-fire captain Eoin Morgan can rediscover his best form with the bat.

Former England limited-overs head coach Ashley Giles has backed current captain Eoin Morgan to rediscover his best form after a string of low scores.

Morgan was out for a six-ball duck, his fourth no-score in eight one-day internationals, in yesterday's 111-run defeat to co-hosts Australia on the opening day of the World Cup.

"He's finding all sorts of different ways to get out," Giles told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"Yesterday's dismissal was quite an odd one - trying to pull off the end of the bat and getting caught behind - but I'm pretty confident that Morgs can come through that.

"We need him to as well. We need all the senior players, as he said after the match yesterday, to really stand up and start taking some responsibility."

England's next group game at the tournament takes place on Friday when they face the other host nation New Zealand in Wellington.
