England head coach Trevor Bayliss has refused to confirm that Jos Buttler will keep his place in the side for the third Test against Pakistan, which gets underway on Sunday.
The wicketkeeper has scored only 34 runs across the first two Tests in the United Arab Emirates, while he contributed over 20 runs on just three occasions during the most recent Ashes series.
As a result, Bayliss has conceded that the 25-year-old's position will be the topic of conversation between himself and captain Alastair Cook over the coming days.
"It's no secret Jos Buttler's been a bit out of form. That's a position myself and Alastair Cook will discuss in the next few days," he told reporters.
Should Buttler drop out, it has been suggested that Jonny Bairstow would be given the responsibility with the gloves, while James Taylor would come in at number five in the batting order.
