Ian Bell believes that the ECB were right to include Nick Compton in the England Test squad for November's four-match tour of India.
The 29-year-old impressed during the recent county season for Somerset, having recorded an average of 99 runs.
Speaking about Compton's call-up, Bell has likened the right-hander to current number three batsman Jonathan Trott.
"He's been a very consistent player and has made big strides," said Bell. "He's a bit like Jonathan Trott. Once he gets in, he tends to go on and make big runs."
Compton is the grandson of former England cricketer and Arsenal footballer Denis Compton.
