Alastair Cook: 'We lost wickets at crucial times'

Alastair Cook reveals his frustration at the lack of runs scored by his England side in the loss to New Zealand on Friday.

Alastair Cook has admitted that it was frustrating not to see an England player make a big score in the five-wicket loss to New Zealand on Friday at Lord's.

Only one England batsman was dismissed for a single-figure score in the first one-day international but it was still Jonathan Trott who top scored with 37 as the Kiwis easily chased down a target of 228.

Cook told BBC Sport: "I don't think it was a wake-up call. I just didn't think we got it right today. The batsmen did the hard bit - all of us got in but none of us made the big score. It's frustrating when it happens in the game.

"We have quality players but none of us got the runs. We kept losing wickets at the wrong time. I think 260 was a good effort. We got in a good position to do that at 120-2."

England will be looking to level the series in the second match at the AGEAS Bowl on Sunday.
