England have decided to rest wicketkeeper Jos Buttler and bring in Jonny Bairstow for their three remaining ODI fixtures against Australia.
Keeper Buttler has found runs hard to come by this summer despite impressing with the gloves, and England's management have now made the call to give the 24-year-old time to recover after a testing Ashes series.
"It has become clear in the last couple of days that Jos will benefit from a break from cricket ahead of the winter tours," said coach Trevor Bayliss, according to BBC Sport.
"While we initially felt Jos would have enough left in the tank, rest is key and Jos has had a heavy workload throughout 2015."
England take on the Aussies in the third game of their five-match series on Wednesday.
