England lose Alastair Cook before lunch

England reach lunch on day three of the fifth Test on 97-1.

England have made slow but steady progress in the morning session of the third day of the fifth Ashes Test and have moved onto 97-1 at lunch.

Cook and Joe Root made their first 50 partnership in the series, but just as the pair looked to press on Cook edged to Brad Haddin off Ryan Harris for 25.

Jonathan Trott was the new man in and batted steadily on a wicket that was beginning to spin for Nathan Lyon.

Root completed his half-century right at the end of the session, reaching his 50 from 145 deliveries.

The Australians were unable to make another breakthrough, with the match looking increasingly likely to end in a draw.
