Andrew Flintoff believes that Ben Stokes has what it takes to be one of England's all-time greats.

Flintoff was regarded as one of the best all-rounders in world cricket during his 11-year international career, helping England to win the Ashes in 2005 and 2009.

Stokes is preparing to take part in his first home Ashes series, and Flintoff says that the 24-year-old could be a pivotal figure this summer.

"I survived a lot on bravado but I think Stokes has a lot more skill. He could be one of England's greats. He will have quiet games, but when he does perform he will win matches," Flintoff told BBC Sport.

"I wouldn't judge him on averages or how many runs he goes for with the ball. Look back at the end of the series. I think in the Ashes he could influence two or three games."

Stokes has averaged 34.15 with the bat and 43.24 with the ball from his 11 Test appearances for England.
