Gary Kirsten doesn't want England role

Former South Africa coach Gary Kirsten says that he is not interested in becoming England's new team director.

Former South Africa coach Gary Kirsten has said that he is not interested in becoming England's new team director.

The 46-year-old led the Proteas to the top of the world rankings before stepping down in July due to family and home commitments.

He told ESPNcricinfo: "I've not been approached about the England job and I'm not considering it at this stage.

"I suppose it is flattering that people are thinking about me. As far as I am concerned, my sentiments have not changed."

Ashley Giles remains the firm favourite to replace Andy Flower, who resigned last week prior to England's 84-run T20 defeat to Australia in the final match of their disappointing tour Down Under.
