Alex Hales available for England selection after avoiding police charge

Alex Hales will not be charged by police for his involvement in a nightclub brawl, meaning that he is now available for England selection.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced that Alex Hales is available for selection after it was confirmed that police will not be charging the batsman over a recent bar brawl.

The 28-year-old was cautioned by police over his alleged involvement in a fracas that resulted in England all-rounder Ben Stokes getting arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm.

Stokes, who is yet to discover if he will face any criminal proceedings, was caught on film allegedly punching another man outside a nightclub in Bristol in September.

Both Hales and Stokes were not considered for selection for The Ashes in Australia, but the former is now free to play in upcoming contests.

England are currently 1-0 down in the series.
