Spinner Simon Kerrigan has been included in the England squad for next week's second Test against India at Lord's.
The Lancashire bowler returns to the international setup for the first time since his disastrous debut in last year's fifth Ashes Test.
The 25-year-old conceded 53 runs in eight overs before being dropped in place of Monty Panesar for the winter tour.
"Clearly he had a tough experience in that one Test match he played, but his record is a standout record for people playing in first-class cricket," captain Alastair Cook told Sky Sports News.
"It will obviously be interesting to see how he copes, but I have absolutely no doubt in his toughness and that he will be able to do that - and that he will be a fine bowler for England."
The England selectors have named an otherwise unchanged squad for the second Test against India, which gets underway on Thursday.
England head into the second Test having drawn their series opener at Trent Bridge on Sunday evening.
