Adam Lyth "proud and honoured" by England call-up

Yorkshire opening batsman Adam Lyth says that he is "proud and honoured" to have been handed his first England call-up for the tour of the West Indies.

Adam Lyth has said that he is "proud and honoured" to have been handed his first England call-up for the tour of the West Indies in April and May.

The Yorkshire opening batsman was one of three uncapped players, alongside teammate Adil Rashid and Durham's Mark Wood, named in Wednesday's 16-man squad.

Lyth has scored 6,505 first-class runs at an average of 42.51 since making his debut in 2007 and will compete with the recalled Jonathan Trott to join captain Alastair Cook at the top of the order for the three-match Test series.

The 27-year-old scored seven centuries, including a career-best score of 251, to help Yorkshire to the County Championship title last season.
