Kevin Pietersen sent a reminder to new director of England cricket Andrew Strauss this afternoon by scoring a century for Surrey in their ongoing County Championship clash against Leicestershire at The Oval.
The 34-year-old has not played for England since the 2013-14 Ashes, but he committed himself to Surrey earlier this year in a bid to reignite his chances of earning a recall to the Test arena.
Having scored a 32 and 53 earlier in the campaign, Pietersen recorded a ton today off 153 balls - a haul which included 12 fours and two sixes.
It was the right-hander's maiden first-class century since August 2013 and the 50th of his career.
Later this month, England face New Zealand in a two-Test series, before they play host to rivals Australia throughout July and August.
