Matt Prior has claimed that there is extra pressure on England's bowlers as they prepare for the fourth Ashes Test without James Anderson.
A side injury will keep England's leading wicket taker in Test cricket out of the match at Trent Bridge as the hosts search for the victory which would clinch the series, and Prior believes that Stuart Broad will be expected to lead by example in the absence of his new ball partner.
"You can't get away from how big a loss Jimmy is," Prior told Sky Sports News "He is a quality performer. We know that and what he does as the leader of the England bowling attack makes him, frankly, irreplaceable.
"However, it gives someone like Stuart Broad the chance to now step up and lead that attack. I know Broady really well and I know he thrives off pressure, thrives on taking more responsibility and I think he will enjoy that challenge.
"The other thing is that it gives bowlers like Steven Finn, and Mark Wood if he plays, the opportunity to grab more responsibility and lead an England attack and see how that unit works together without Jimmy."
Wood is expected to be recalled in place of Anderson, but England also have Mark Footitt and Liam Plunkett in the squad.
