Sussex head coach Mark Robinson has insisted that Matt Prior is ready to return to the England Test squad for the series against Sri Lanka following his comeback from injury.
The England and Wales Cricket Board will announce the squad on Thursday ahead of the first of two matches next week, and Robinson believes that Prior can regain the form which made him a regular in the team before he was dropped during the 5-0 defeat to Australia in the winter.
"The Achilles problem is not going to go away until the end of the year but it is manageable. He is ready mentally," the Sussex coach told BBC Radio 5 live.
"With the bat he's in form. What he has not been able to do is keep wicket, so he might be slightly undercooked but in this game, he has improved.
"If I were Alastair Cook or Peter Moores, I would want him in my side."
Prior made 30 and 19 not out as Sussex drew with Nottinghamshire this week.
