England's Joe Root moves up 38 places to 11th in the batting T20 international world rankings.

England star Joe Root has moved up to 11th in the batting T20 international world rankings.

The 25-year-old has climbed 38 places to the career-high position following his impressive displays at the World Twenty20 tournament in India.

Root has so far contributed 168 runs in four matches and will play a role in tomorrow's semi-final against New Zealand.

India batsman Virat Kohli tops the rankings, while Australia's Aaron Finch is second, New Zealand's Martin Guptill is third and Faf du Plessis of South Africa is fourth in the list.

Root's England teammate Alex Hales currently resides fifth in the standings.
