Matthew Wade stars as Australia beat England in first one-day international

A lacklustre England batting display hands Australia a 59-run victory in the first game of their five-match one-day series in Southampton.

Matthew Wade's unbeaten 71 laid the platform for Australia's 59-run win over England in the first of five one-day internationals on Thursday.

Adil Rashid's 4-59 in Southampton reduced the tourists to 193-6, but Wade added 112 with Mitchell Marsh (40 not out) to help their side post 305-6.

England's pursuit of 306 started with two promising innings from Jason Roy and James Taylor, but both surrendered impressive starts when they, alongside captain Eoin Morgan, gave their wickets away and England's reply fell flat.

The Three Lions lost three wickets in four balls at one stage and their last seven for 94 runs before being bowled out with 27 balls to spare.
