A lower-order collapse has seen England bowled out for 399 on day two of the first Test against the West Indies in Antigua.
The tourists started the day on 341-5 before a flurry of wickets put an end to their innings.
Ben Stokes was removed by Jerome Taylor early on having made 79, while James Tredwell was sent back to the pavilion for just eight following a Jason Holder delivery.
Jos Buttler failed to make a single run in the 21 balls that he faced before Roach claimed his second victim of the day. Roach was among the wickets again two overs later when he bowled Stuart Broad for a duck.
However, a late rally by James Anderson and Chris Jordan helped England to beef up their score at the crease. Anderson hit 20 off 22 balls before he was dismissed by Samuels, while Jordan reached 21 not out when the final wicket fell.
