Rahul Dravid scores a century as India make a good start to the second Test in Kolkatta.

Rahul Dravid recorded his 36th Test century as India closed on 346-5 after the first day's play of the second Test in Kolkata.

Dravid hit eleven boundaries, including two sixes, on his way to 119 and shared a 140-run fourth wicket stand with VVS Laxman, who finished 73 not out.

Gautam Gambhir also made a half century before Fidel Edwards had him caught for 65 by Adrian Barath, who also caught Virender Sehwag after the powerful opener blasted a quickfire 38.

The hosts looked as if they would be heading into day two just three wickets down, but two late dismissals pulled them back from 345-3 to 346-5.

Part-timer Kraigg Brathwaite bowled Dravid before Kemar Roach had nightwatchman Ishant Sharma caught behind first ball.

Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar's quest for his 100th international century goes on after he was dismissed by Devendra Bishoo for 38.
