Mohammad Mahmudullah's century steers Bangladesh to 288-7 against New Zealand

Bangladesh set New Zealand 289 to win, thanks to another century by Mohammad Mahmudullah.

Mohammad Mahmudullah has scored a second successive century to help Bangladesh set New Zealand 289 to win their Pool A clash at the Cricket World Cup.

The middle-order batsman helped his side beat England last week, and he played calmly throughout his innings today after coming to the crease with the score at 27-2.

He scored 128 not out and was ably supported by Soumya Sakar's composed 51, while a late cameo from Sabbir Rahman (40) helped the Tigers to pile on some late runs.

New Zealand bowler Trent Boult (2-56) took two early wickets, including danger man Tamin Iqbal, but a partnership of 90 between Sakar and Mahmudullah regained momentum for Bangladesh and they eventually finished on 288-7.

Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum will open the batting for New Zealand after the break.
