England wicket-keeper Jos Buttler has announced that he will be leaving Somerset at the end of the season, with Lancashire seemingly his next destination.
The 23-year-old is currently first-choice glovesman in England's limited-overs teams, but has largely been used as an outfielder by the Taunton outfit, who employ Craig Kieswetter behind the stumps.
Buttler has confirmed that his imminent departure from his boyhood county, whom he has represented 223 times across all formats, is in order to gain more wicket-keeping experience to enhance his international career.
"I am very sad to be leaving Somerset but feel it is a decision I must take in order to develop my expertise as a wicket keeper," he told the club's official website.
"I am immensely grateful for all the help and support that everyone at Somerset has given me which has shaped the player and person I am today. I would like to wish the Club the best of luck for the future."
Sky Sports News understands that Buttler will join newly-promoted Lancashire, who have recently released long-serving glovesman Gareth Cross, within the next week.
