Middlesex director of cricket Angus Fraser has confirmed that Eoin Morgan will sit out the team's next four games because the batsman is "in need of a rest".
The 28-year-old, who has struggled for form of late, will miss three Royal London One-Day Cup games, as well as a County Championship tie against Sussex.
Fraser believes that the absence will allow Morgan to "recharge" ahead of England's T20 and ODI matches against Australia later this month.
"Eoin has been on the go since October 2014 and is in need of a rest," Fraser told the club's official website. "He has been working his socks off away from matches trying to find the form he wants and it has so far not brought the results he is looking for.
"We believe a week or two away from cricket will allow him to recharge and to play the cricket he wants for the remainder of the season."
James Franklin will temporarily take the one-day captaincy.
