AB De Villiers's knock of 99 has helped South Africa to a total of 341-6 against UAE in the Cricket World Cup.
The Proteas captain fell just one run short of a century when he mistimed a Kamran Shahzad delivery to Amjad Javed.
De Villiers was ably supported by David Miller (49) and Rilee Roussouw (43), before some late boundaries from Farhaan Behardien (64*) took them over 300.
Mohammad Naveed took the early wicket of Hashim Amla (12) on his way to recording figures of 3-63 and he was UAE's most impressive bowler, as he bowled with both swing and pace.
Amjad Ali and Andri Berenger will open the batting for UAE after the break.
